Adopt/Rescue
Adopting a pet from a shelter or rescue can be one of the greatest joys and there are so many desperatley in need of a loving home. If you are considering making that wonderful lifetime commitment, please reach out to your local rescues and visit your local shelters to find the pet that would best fit your lifestyle.
Foster
Fostering is such a rewarding experience and absolutely crucial in saving lives. If you are able to open your heart and home, please reach out to your local rescue and apply - they typically cover all of the expenses and you provide the love while they wait to find their forever home.
Donate
Most animal welfare organizations rely on monetary donations and a small amount can make a big difference. You can help make a positive impact by contributing in other ways such as donating food, cleaning supplies, toys, treats , leashes, collars and/or blankets.
Advocate
Shelters all over are at capacity with unclaimed pets for one reason or another. Some have been abandoned, neglected, abused, are sick or bred for profits, then discarded or worse. Talk about the importance of spay/neuter, selecting the right pet for your home, being a responsible pet owner. Reach out to your local humane officers or authorities if you see something, have heard something or if something just doesn't seem right.
Educate
Learning about caring for an animal, adoption, responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay/neuter, disease prevention, children and pet safety are some of the imperative aspects in helping with the overpopulation problem and animal cruelty cases. Please do your due diligence, their lives depend on it.
Volunteer
Volunteering at your local shelters will certainly make that pet's day and can be so fulfilling for you too. Whether you walked them, played with them, gave them a bath, read a book or scrolled through your phone while petting them, it made their day brighter. There are lots of other ways to volunteer too - transporting, reviewing adoption applications, updating adoptable pet profiles, taking pictures, helping fundraiser events and more. Reach out to your local shelters and rescues and find something that works for you!
